Embrace Adventure: 5 Tips Why To Digitally Detox

Camping is usually our go-to escape from the daily grind, which often includes work and tech. Even though we're all about the latest gadgets and advancements, deep down, we could really use a Digital Detox. It's especially helpful when we want to hang out with family, catch up with friends, embrace adventure or just reconnect with ourselves.

UNPLUG TO RECHARGE
While there stands to be benefits from our tech, overstimulation and overexposure can in many cases lead to a series of health and social issues. Sadly, in my opinion, many of which are on display in todays current environment.
Here is a quick overview of benefits that unplugging can help with.
Enhance Social Skills - Limiting virtual exposure enables us to develop and strengthen our ability to interact with others face-to-face. This fosters proper manners and habits that can be diminished without physical or in-person engagement.
Improved Physical Health - Simply standing up and moving, whether through walking or hiking, can help lower the risk of obesity or general fitness problems.
Enhanced Focus Capability - Reducing the rate of mental distractions gives the mind a chance to rest and concentrate on the present task instead of continuously seeking new stimuli.
Mental Health Enhancement - The above mentioned contributes to achieving a overall healthier mental state.

Ways to accomplish a Digital Detox While Camping
1) BRING GAMES WITH YOU

NO VIDEO GAMES -- Or at least try to wean yourself off them like a caffeine addict switching to decaf. If you can't go completely cold turkey, make sure the games you bring are multiplayer. Pack some of the family's favorite board games, card games, or those activity games that get everyone moving—like Horseshoe, because who doesn’t love throwing metal at stakes? Keeping everyone entertained and interacting will distract you from the siren call of video games and prevent you from turning into a digital hermit while out in the good ole outdoors!
2) PACK TOGETHER

Get everyone who's coming to the camping trip involved. Ask them for their thoughts and ideas on fun games to bring along. This way, everyone will have something to look forward to and can share their interests with each other.
People are more likely to be on board when they have a personal stake in it.
3) EXPAND THE GUEST LIST
While it's tempting to always spend time with the same group or just your family when looking to disconnect from the world, it's crucial to also invite extended family and friends on trips. This not only helps them unwind but also ensures that you and your loved ones have meaningful opportunities to connect and strengthen family bonds.

4) COOK/EAT TOGETHER
Nothing brings people together like sharing in the making of a meal. Show off your culinary prowess by sharing a family secret recipe or learning something new over the BBQ, firepit or even the Jetboil, while delighting in a dehydrated meal.
5) JUST BE TOGETHER
At the end of the day, it's all about hanging out together and escaping the usual daily distractions. Video games, work stuff, and life's stresses can really pull us away from ourselves and each other, making it easy to get caught up in digital distractions. So, use this time away to just be together, get lost—or maybe found—in the moment, and make some memories that will hopefully stick with you forever.

We hope these tips and thoughts help you get the most out of your next trip and help to refocus yourself, and those around you. If you have further suggestions of your own, please add a comment down below to share with the community!
